Description:
This webinar provides a comprehensive evaluation strategy and evidence-based treatment guidelines for advanced heart failure management. It covers options for end-stage heart failure, including LVAD and heart transplantation, and discusses the role of palliative care. The focus will be on how nursing, from RN to APRN, can improve care strategies for this patient population.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the key causes and symptoms of heart failure.
2. Discuss the signs and symptoms and their relation to the stages of heart failure. 3. Evaluate the AHA/ACC/HFSA heart failure guidelines.
3. Implement guideline-directed medical therapy, including considerations for initiating, holding, and up-titrating GDMT.
4. Evaluate options for end-stage heart failure, including LVAD and heart transplantation, and the role of palliative care.

Graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Louisiana State University in 2003 and earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas in 2013. An Acute Care Nurse Practitioner since 2014, she leads the Advanced Heart Failure APPs team at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. Amanda has also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Texas Cizik School of Nursing, authored several lectures on heart failure and transplantation, and has a strong interest in research, publishing multiple articles in her field. She has presented her work at both state and national levels.
